Gambling History
The word
"casino"
comes from
Italian /
Latin
and referred
to private
facilities
maintained
by the
Venetian
nobles in
order to
dress up
with their
official
robes. As
times goes
by those
premises
also had
some social
gathering
functions
and some
people
started to
gambling
events
there.
Casino
simply meant
"little
house". In
Venice at
that time
casinos were
used for
other
purpose too,
not only for
gambling and
entertainment.
In 1638
the first
public
Palazzo
Dandolo
Casino of
Venice -
the Ridotto
at San Marco
opened, mid
17th century
there were
already over
100 casinos
in Venice
most
operated by
Venetian
Nobles who
were able to
get a
official
license. In
1774 casinos
in Venice
were closed.
But no one
could stop
gambling
until today.
Coffee shops
started as
undercover
casinos and
finally more
illegal
casinos were
in the city
than the
legal
before.
Interestingly
in 2011 the
situation is
the same as
in Thailand,
particular
in Bangkok
with the
gambling
dents.
Casinos have
existed
since the
17th Century
in Europe
but mainly
private and
hidden.
According to
historical
sources
gambling in
Venice was
common since
1170,
gambling was
especially
popular
during the
Venetian
carnival.
Gambling
history
shows that the first
State
licensed
gambling
houses
started in
the 14.
century in
Holland and
today
Belgium.
In Germany
official
gambling
started 1396
in Frankfurt
am Main.
During and
after the
French
Revolution
gambling was
on a low
“burner” but
in the 19.
century
Monte Carlo
became the
synonym for
high roller
gambling. |

In 1942
at Las Vegas
the first
casino "El
Rancho"
opened
and casinos
in Nevada
were in the
hand of the
Mafia after
a while
until the
old bosses
died out and
big business
moved in.
Currently,
2011 we see
casinos
opening in
Asia since a
couple of
years, the
latest where
the Casinos
at Macau and
Singapore.
Indications
are that all
this
gambling
stuff
already
started in
China much
early but
there are no
real records
since
everything
was done by
criminals in
a shady
world. |

Today
gambling is
done almost
everywhere,
but everyone
tells its
not good,
after they
go home and
do it.
That's human
nature,
continuous
lying,
cheating and
hypocrites.
Very
interesting
"gambling
dents" are
at Port
Louise at
Mauritius
island, they
play the
same games
as the
Chinese do,
as the
Burmese or
Myanmar do
and so on.
This
widespread
international
gambling is
interesting
especially
where
Chinese
people are.
Actually
there is
probably no
other ethnic
group except
Chinese who
are so prone
to gambling.
Internet
gambling
became big
business
since a
couple of
years now
and it is
really
positive to
see that the
Singaporean
Chinese woke
up to the
realism of
the 21.
century by a
simple
philosophy,
if you cant
beat them,
join them
and benefit
from and
this is
exactly what
happen via
Singapore
gambling.
