The Singapore Bird Park
or better known as the Jurong
Bird Park
is at the west side
of Singapore Island and
Changi Airport where you
arrive on your Singapore
trip is at the east side. In
between is a very
interesting island republic
full of exotic people, food,
entertainment, shopping at
Orchard Road, lots of money
to be made, good nightlife,
nice living, Singapore girls
and so on, but its expensive
in relation to the countries
around and they don't like
chewing gum, yes you heard
right chewing gum is banned.
But anyway the birds
are not interested in
chewing gum anyway, at the
bird park in Singapore there
are parrots, macaws,
cockatoos, flamingos,
storks, hornbills,
shoebills, cranes, eagles,
vultures, exotic crown
pigeons and plenty of other
bird species and you can be
sure about 80% of this
beautiful and exotic birds
you haven't seen and
probably even heard about,
the positive is, among
others, at the bird park in
Singapore you
can see them just in front
of you in a natural, little
modified environ. They even
have several bird shows
during the day, where the
parrots count to ten in
English, Chinese and Tamil
and they really do, no
tricks and cheats.
Have you seen
the tiger
jumping through the hoop ?
well at the Bird Park in
Singapore
its not the tiger, its the
red blue parrot which flies
through the hoop, not only
through one but through 4 in
a row, its really amazing
what this little birds can
do.
At the Bird Park all
this two leg creatures ( no,
the birds !) can be seen in
their somehow natural
environment, there is even a
tree house environ you can
walk through over a
suspension bridge and give
some food to the parrots,
they are very uncomplicated
birds, you give them food,
they eat it, that's it. The
positive you have out of
this is great colors ,
some crrrrr creeee and a
happy bird plus a happy
tourist, so what ? Actually
the tourists will be even
more happy when they visit

Marina
Sands casino and
win some money,
Marina
Bay Singapore is
really worth a visit.
There are rare
and not so rare
beautiful varieties
of exotic birds.
The Jurong Bird Park
is not so well known
since a lot of
people go bird
watching but be
honest, its always
difficult to spot
all the is small
colorful beauties,
so the people are
not really after it,
but at the bird park
in Singapore you can really see
the birds just a few
meters away in their
semi natural
environ. Ok, I don't know
what the birds are
thinking about
but since many of
this exotic birds
are there and not
flying away even
when they have the
possibility to do so
it cant be so
negative for the
birds. The people
who want to save the
world, the animals
and other creatures
should go and try to
save the rats, but
this is also not so
good since we get
the plague and other
diseases back.
The
Bird Park is for sure not
only a vacation
excitement, its also
quite educational
and a great place
for the kids too,
all birds have their
data sheets placed
nearby so you always
know who look at
you.
There is a
pelican cove, a
flamingo site with a
splendid waterfall,
countless parrots,
cranes, ducks you
can watch from below
the water surface
and if you like buy
some food and feed
the parrots, a theme
shop give you an
excuse to spend some
money. |

What I didn't like
at all is, they give
a special low
entrance price for
senior citizen but
only if you are a
Singaporean, this is
for sure a
discrimination,
since they come to
Europe or US the
just pay the same as
the locals. Actually
this is something
the Singaporeans
have in common with
the Myanmar and
Thais, there also
the foreigners pay
two or three times
the entrance fee at
national parks,
Zoo's etc.
You can watch
birds for hours
and you have a good
chance that they
wont fly away and
let you standing in

the dust or
rather in
the tropical
heat,
Singapore is
a very hot
and wet
place close
to the
equator and
you gona
feel this
very quick
and there is
no chance to
jump into
the flamingo
cove or under the
|
|
waterfall.
Since there is
some walk to do
to explore the bird
park unless you are
handicapped or lazy,
use good shoes,
better leave the
slippers at the
hotel. Since there
are about 8000 birds
of about 600
different species to
watch some walking
or rather hiking is
essential, actually
|
|
|
parrots are
plenty. In
any case if
you don't
like to walk
around there
is a
elevated
monorail
following
the circuit
and quite a
lot is
visible from
this little
train.
|
|
The park
spans over
around 20 hectares
means go man go. If
you have a look for
the daily show and a
close look at the
other places you can
watch the birds
flying and see the
immense wing span,
the vultures
participating in the
bird show have
around 2 meter wing
span, this is
incredible. |
A visit to the
Singapore Bird Park
should be part of
every, it is a
great experience to
watch hundreds of
birds at one
location easily
walking from
colorful exotic bird
to the next. The
walk through the
park is in an easy
way, places to rest
are under the
tropical jungle
trees and every

rest place has a
machine to get some
drinks, its not very
cheap at 3 S$ for a
small bottle of coke
from the vending
machine but when the
sweat is running and
the next bird, maybe
a parrot is calling,
what can you do.
|
|
Passing the
wetlands
and some
patches of mangroves
you can sometimes
even encounter birds
which have escaped
even the books. It's
a ideal place for
bird watcher and
birding. Experiencing a great
wildlife under
control and take a
close but limited
look into Asia's
flora and fauna.
Jurong Bird
Park at Singapore
is a great place to
see all this
beautiful 2 leg
feathery creatures,
actually about 8000
birds of around 600
species makes it the
largest gathering of
birds worldwide.
Their natural
habitat is
implemented quite
well to let them
fly, swim and walk
around and enjoy
themselves in some
huge aviaries.
This
Singapore wildlife
reserve is the
closest possible
environ to the
normal natural
habitat of the bird.

in front of you, try

|
Jurong bird park
is just the right
place for bird
watching enthusiast
no need to hang
around and wait
hours for a rare
sighting of a
beautiful bird.
These little
beauties are around
everywhere, just to
a short hike and
there is another
one.
|
|
|
Jurong Bird
Park is for bird
watcher's
from
the
whole
world
since
the
species
collection
is
from
all
continents,
not
only
from
Asia.
There
are
also
birds
which
nearly
|
|
disappeared in the
free nature or
rather difficult to
see such as this
black vulture.
|
- As you can see a
great way to spend a
day in Singapore is
visit the Jurong
Bird Park,
observe live
birds up close,
take a walk in a
tropical
environ, try some
new attempts to
wildlife
photography.

If you have other
interests aside of
birding, such as
tropical flowers you
might spend a day at
the Singapore orchid
garden, one of the
best worldwide with
hundreds of
different orchids
flowers of different
species and hybrids.
At the Jurong
Bird Park there
is one circular
birding trail with
some alleys
branching off, you
can see the
Jurong Bird Park Map
for more
actually real bird
watching attraction
are almost every
twenty meters on
average. Aside from
the parrots also
hawks, falcons,
different wading
birds, crane birds
and some rather
simple birds such as
ducks are around at
the park plus
egrets, owls,
warblers, wrens and
swallows to mention
only a few, the
majority are parrots
of various kinds and
they are real
beauties with
incredible colors.
Watching the cranes
is always a question
coming up, how do
this birds keep the
balance when center
of gravity is at
such a high point,
even with large
feets is not a easy
task. |

Crane Birds at the
Jurong Bird Park |
- There is a 9
storey high aviary,
actually there
are several aviary,
with lush greenery
and panorama view.
The idea is feed the
parrots, they really
come and eat what
you offer. Most of
the birds shouldn't
be fed by the people
but the parrots are
a exception if you
just fed the stuff
bought at the
counter which is
advisable since you
don't know anyway
what a parrot wants
to eat, don't you ?
You can walk the
aviary over the
suspension bridge
at about 12 meters
height and get a
feeling what a group
of German scientists
did in the Amazon
rain forest when
they installed a 60
meter crane in the
jungle to watch the
jungle life from
above, this are real
incredible view not
easy to implement,
it needs quite some
money to do this.
- The
Singapore or Jurong
Bird Park
is one of the major
tourist attractions
in the City-State.

Aviary

Nestled in a small
patch of jungle
forest it offers a
great opportunity to
explore the local
fauna and flora.
Over time
Jurong Bird Park
has grown into a
global attraction
and this is no
exaggeration. Since
Singapore is located
in the tropics just
at the southern top
of the Malay
Peninsular it's a
perfect place to
watch tropical birds
in their natural or
rather semi-natural
environ.
Jurong Bird
Park is
also promoting
wildlife
conservation and
quite high entrance
fees a quite some
cash raising within
the park, the place
had blossomed.
Somehow similar as
like the Singapore
Orchid Garden which
is almost at
downtown.
The building were the bird
park reception is
has a good souvenir
shop all around the
birds. When you
entrance a quick
photo session is
probably the first
thing you will do at
enter since at the
entrance are already
several multicolored
and very pretty
parrots hanging
around, they welcome
you with creee, cree
and craa craa, you
know what it means ?
Since
there is lush
greenery
there are also some
mosquitoes around,
that's the nature,
use a repellant
before you visit the
park.
The Jurong Bird
Park is open every
day but certain
parts close early
and are open only
from time to time
why? Since the
entrance prices are
quite high and the
visitor pays 100%
means also the
program and
visibility should be
100%, he we are not
in Thailand where
they sleep most of
the time. This
tropical bird park
and the aviary is
located in a patch
of real old jungle
and offers
spectacular views. |

Walking
the most
scenic route
could be substituted
by a ride in the
monorail which
follow the paved
road but the real
thing is naturally
via a walk which
offers some stunning
views of the island.
There are gardens,
waterfalls and
lakes, many species
of birds including
flamingos, cranes,
hornbills, toucans,
cockatoos, macaws,
pheasants, ibis,
ducks, pigeons,
doves and hundreds
variants of them.
There are also many
smaller birds like
finches, cardinals,
and love birds and
so on.
The large
walk-through aviary,
with other species
of birds is quite a
fascinating
experience.
There are plenty of
parrots and many
other small birds
that fly free in a
this almost natural
habitat. Close to
the aviary are some
small lakes with
flamingos and
pelicans plus some
romantic waterfalls.
Mandarin
and
Carolina ducks

Jurong Bird Park is
a fascinating park
which must not be
missed on any
Singapore trip and
bird shows are
offered every day.
|
|
There is a well
stocked bird
theme shop in the
park, many
items of
which are
exclusive to
the Park and
will not be
found |

in any other
shop in
Singapore.
There are
ramps for
wheelchairs and into
the theatre where
the daily bird shows
are performed. Most
people enjoy
to see
birds,
flamingos, in
particular birdwatchers
but in
general it
is always
difficult to
really see
the birds,
at the Bird
Park you
can see all
this
beauties in
a natural
environment.
One of the reason
why
birds are
interesting
for us is,
they can
fly, while

we remain on mother
earth. Most of us
had a dream
somewhere in past of
flying up there or
fix some wings
and fly away. Birds are
somehow symbols of
freedom.
The best expression
of pure freedom is
the ability to fly.
Actually one person
has done this until
now, fixings wings
with four small jet
engines (as they are
used with model
airplanes) on the
body and got from
France to England.
There are also other
attributes fixed to
birds, we know the
noble eagle,
squabbling crows, proud peacock
and Donald Duck,
gliding swans show
grace and elegance,
the hawk means war, the dove
means peace and the
parrots stand for
incredible colors
etc. what do they
and plenty of other
have in common? they
can be watched at
the bird park
in Singapore. See
all the different
colors of bird feathers
from simple earth tones of sparrows
to the great colors
of
flamingos,
parrots,
peacocks,
macaws,
cockatoos,
storks,
hornbills,
cranes,
eagles,
vultures
and more. |

others its simply
beautiful nature, at
the bird park pink
flamingos and other
waders plus tropical parrots
show stunning
tropical colors.
There are very small
birds such as a
finch and all the
way up to the huge
vulture of the Andes
and elsewhere.
The bird park in
Singapore is like a
tropical garden with
flying colors, aside
of shear pleasure to
look at the colors
they serve
some biological
parameter of
evolution. Listen to
a free bird concert
and enjoy the bird
show which is
performed every
afternoon. Birds
are probably the
best symbols of
a untamed nature
even surviving the
continuous problems
they are are facing
in their habitats
from the guys who
cut down everything
for quick profit.
